FAQ

We know buying custom window coverings is a big decision. Whether you’re exploring roller shades, motorized blinds, or plantation shutters for your DFW home, we want to make the process feel simple. Here are the questions we hear most often at Legacy Blinds Manufacturing, answered straight from our team in Carrollton, Texas.

What types of window coverings do you manufacture?

We manufacture a full line of custom window treatments right here in our Carrollton, TX facility. Our product lineup includes roller shades, combi shades, triple shades, 3D shades, Roman shades, cellular shades, woven shades, faux wood blinds, aluminum blinds, plantation shutters, and smart curtains. We also offer motorization for most of our shade and blind products. Because we make everything in-house, you get consistent quality and faster turnaround than ordering through a big-box retailer.

Do you serve areas outside of Dallas?

Yes! Legacy Blinds Manufacturing serves the entire Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, including Carrollton, Plano, Southlake, Fort Worth, Celina, Prosper, Northlake, and surrounding communities. Our team handles free in-home measurement appointments and complimentary installation for DFW-area customers who meet the order minimum. If you’re unsure whether we cover your area, give us a call at (972) 820-0007 and we’ll confirm right away.

How long does production take for blinds and shades?

Production time varies by product. Standard blinds typically take 1 to 2 weeks. Most shades take 1.5 to 2 weeks, though specialty fabrics can run 3 to 4 weeks depending on material delivery. Roman shades using custom fabric generally take 3 to 4 weeks. Shutters for standard windows take 2 to 3 weeks, while curved or eyebrow windows can take 3 to 4 weeks. We’ll give you a realistic timeline when you place your order so there are no surprises.

Is installation included with my order?

DFW-area customers receive complimentary installation when their order meets our minimum amount. Our certified installation team handles everything, from mounting brackets to final adjustments, so your window coverings look polished and hang perfectly. A typical blind or shade installation takes 30 minutes to 1.5 hours depending on how many windows you have. If you’d also like us to remove your old blinds, just let us know at the time of ordering and we’ll include that as an add-on service.

Should I visit your showroom first or schedule a measurement first?

We recommend visiting our design studio first. Seeing our full product line in person, touching the fabrics, and understanding what each shade style does for light and privacy makes the final decision much easier. Once you’ve narrowed things down, we bring large fabric samples directly to your home to confirm how the color and texture look in your actual lighting. It’s a win for both sides: you feel confident, and we make sure nothing is ordered until you’re happy with the selection.

What is the difference between roller shades and combi shades?

Roller shades use a single piece of fabric that rolls up into a compact tube. They’re clean, minimal, and available in light-filtering or blackout options. Combi shades (also called zebra or dual shades) layer alternating sheer and solid fabric bands that you can align to control how much light and privacy you get at any moment. They give you the flexibility of a sheer curtain and a room-darkening shade in one product. Combi shades are one of our most popular choices for living rooms and bedrooms where lighting needs change throughout the day.

Do you offer motorized blinds and smart home integration?

Yes, motorization is available for most of our shades and blinds. Our motorized products can be controlled by remote, wall switch, or smartphone app. We also offer a Home Automation Smart Hub that integrates with your existing smart home setup. Motorization is especially popular for hard-to-reach windows, large living room panels, and households with young children since it eliminates cords entirely for a safer environment. If you’re interested, our team can walk you through compatible options during your design consultation.

What are cellular shades, and are they good for Texas homes?

Cellular shades (also called honeycomb shades) have a unique structure with air pockets built into the fabric. Those pockets act as an insulating barrier between your window and the room, helping keep heat out in summer and warmth in during winter. In North Texas, where summer temperatures regularly push past 100 degrees, cellular shades can meaningfully reduce the load on your air conditioning. They’re one of the most energy-efficient window covering options available, and they look clean and modern in any room.

Can you repair or replace parts on window coverings I didn’t buy from you?

Yes, we do take on external repair requests. For products outside our own line, stop by our facility at 1000 Crowley Dr. Suite 100, Carrollton, TX 75006 to get an estimate, or call us at (972) 820-0007 and we can give you a quote over the phone. Replacement parts for blinds and shades are also available. Our products that fall under our own brand are covered by our Limited Lifetime Warranty for eligible repairs, handled directly by our certified technical team.

What is included in your Limited Lifetime Warranty?

Our Limited Lifetime Warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship for our personal product line. If something isn’t right with the way your covering was made, our certified technical team handles the repair. The warranty applies to the original purchaser and covers normal residential use. It does not cover damage from improper installation (if you chose to self-install), misuse, or normal wear. Full warranty terms are available on our website, and our team is happy to answer specific questions about coverage when you order.

How do I know what fabric or style is right for my home?

That’s exactly what our complimentary design consultation is for. During your visit to our showroom or your in-home appointment, our team asks about how you use each room, how much natural light you want to let in, and what your privacy needs are. We then walk you through fabric options, light-filtering levels, and color choices that work with your existing decor. We carry one of the widest fabric selections in the Dallas area, so you’re rarely stuck with limited options.

How long does a measurement appointment take, and is it free?

A measurement appointment is complimentary and typically takes 30 minutes to an hour, depending on how many windows you have. Our team measures each window precisely so your custom coverings fit perfectly, with no gaps or awkward overhangs. We handle all the measurements ourselves so you don’t have to worry about getting numbers wrong. Once we have the measurements, your order goes straight into production and we keep you updated throughout the process.
